WinGD (Winterthur Gas & Diesel Ltd) has introduced the new X52-S2.0 short piston stroke that is ideal for vessels with a shallow draught, small propeller diameter or low main deck height. Thanks to the new design the engine is the optimum choice for several vessel segments such as container feeders, RORO and CONRO vessels, multipurpose cargo vessels and vehicle carriers.
The X52-S2.0 engine has a cylinder bore diameter of 520 mm and a piston stroke of 2,045 mm, with a maximum continuous power of 1910kW/cylinder at 120 rpm. The engine will be available with five to eight cylinders configuration being able to cover a power range of 4,850-15,280 kW at 85-120 rpm.
The X52-S2.0 will be equipped with the high pressure and low pressure SCR, whereas the iSCR (integrated Selective Catalytic Reduction) can be added as an option to be fully compliant with IMO Tier III NOx emissions requirement and to simplifying engine installation for shipyard and therefore lowering CAPEX. The X52-S2.0 is DF-ready as standard, it can be easily converted to dual-fuel, as no major structural components need to be modified.
