Our low-speed engines are developed, designed, promoted and licensed by WinGD in Switzerland. The engines are produced by specialized engine manufacturing companies under licence from WinGD. The Licensees then market, manufacture, test and sell the engines through agreed terms and conditions. WinGD continuously supports its Licensees throughout all phases of the engine project.
CSSC Marine Power Co., Ltd (CMP) signed a licence agreement in 2008 to build Wärtsilä low-speed engines. CMP is a member of CSSC, located at Zhenjiang City in Jiangsu Province. CMP will focus on building engines of 70 cm bore and smaller.
CSSC-MES Diesel Co., Ltd. (CMD) was established in 2006 as a joint venture of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, China CSSC Holdings Ltd, and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co Ltd with its factory in Shanghai Lingang. The factory has an annual production capacity of 2.6 million kW. WinGD and CMD have jointly signed a licence agreement in 2008 for the manufacture and sale of all sizes of WinGD low-speed diesel engines by CMD in China.
Hudong Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd. (HHM) is a WinGD licensee since 1995. HHM is a member of CSSC. The company is focusing on engines with bore sizes between 48 and 70 cm. Annual production capacity is 1.5 million kW. Among the various types of WinGD engines which HHM delivered in the past years, HHM produced the world wide first 6RT-flex58T-D V2 engine and 8RT-flex68-D_L engine.
China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) was established in July 1999. It is a conglomerate & state-authorized investment institution directly administered by the central government of China. Their main business is shipbuilding, covering civilian and naval vessels. There are 60 fully-owned enterprises and shareholding institutions, including repairing yards, research & design institutes, marine-related equipment manufacturers and trading firms in China.
Dalian Marine Diesel Co., Ltd. (DMD) is a WinGD licensee since 1978. DMD is a member of CSIC. The company focuses on bigger engines with bore sizes from 50 to 96cm. The annual production capacity is 2.2 million kW. In November 2010, China's first WinGD 7RT-flex84T-D engine manufactured by DMD was delivered. In June 2014, DMD delivered China’s first WinGD 6-cylinder X72 engine.
Established in July 1999, CSIC is an entity directly under the state government with state authorisation for investment and capital management. CSIS is one of the largest groups in China in the field of design, manufacture, and trade of civilian and military ships, marine engineering and marine equipment. There are 46 industrial enterprises, 28 R&D institutes in China, with a total number of 140,000 employees. The annual shipbuilding capacity is five million dwt.
JAD signed a licence agreement in 2014 to produce all sizes of WinGD low-speed engine portfolio. The company JAD covers an area of 280’000 m2 with more than eight hundred employees. JAD started up production of in September 2009 after a factory construction period of about one and a half year.
Hefei Rong An Power Machinery Co., Ltd. (RPM) signed a licence agreement in 2007 to build all sizes of WinGD low-speed engines. The first Rong'An-WinGD engine, a 6RT-flex68-D, was successfully delivered in October 2009. In June 2010, China's first 7RT-flex82T engine manufactured by Rong An was delivered.
Yuchai Marine Power Co., Ltd. (YCMP) signed a licence agreement in 2009 and is located at Zhuhai City in Guangdong Province. The parent company of YCMP,Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Group, is mainly working in the truck and bus engine business. The factory has a capacity to build engines with an output of about 0.9 million kW. YCMP has manufactured the world wide first commercial WinGD dual fuel engine, 5RT-flex50DF.
H. Cegielski-Poznań S.A. (HCP S.A.) is one of oldest licensees of WinGD two-stroke engines (starting in 1956). HCP delivers modern, reliable products such as low-speed two-stroke engines, piston and impeller type compressors as well as radial air blowers. The company focuses on bore sizes between 350 and 840mm with annual capacity of up to 28 two-stroke engines.
HSD Engine Co., Ltd. is located in Changwon, South Korea. The company produces low- and medium-speed marine diesel and dual fuel engines in the range between 500 kW and 80.000 kW with an annual production capacity of 4.5 million kW. The licence to HSD Engine (formerly Doosan Engine Co., Ltd.) goes back to 1984 when its predecessor company Korean Heavy Engineering Co., Ltd. signed a technical licence agreement with WinGD.
The Engine & Machinery Division of Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (HHI-EMD) is located in Ulsan, South Korea. The company is a WinGD licensee since 1975. HHI-EMD is the world’s largest marine engine builder with an annual production capacity of 9 million kW of low- and medium-speed marine diesel and dual fuels engines in the range between 500 kW and 80.000 kW for marine and stationary applications.
Diesel United, Ltd. was established in 1988 as a result of a merger between engine divisions of Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. and Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. Those two companies had entered into licence agreements in 1948 and 1950 respectively. During the past 60 years, DU produced many world first engine types. Since 2015 DU has a W6X72 Dual Fuel test engine and has a development cooperation agreement with WinGD.
Hitachi Zosen Corporation (Hitz) has a 130 year's history. A new engine factory including assembly and shop test was opened in 1997 close to the Ariake shipyard (Kyushu Island) of Japan Marine United Corporation. Considering Hitz factory layout they have the possibility to produce WinGD’s whole portfolio range. Hitz has also developed their own Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system for marine diesel engine to comply with Tier III.
Kobe Diesel acquired the marine engine business of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Marine Machinery division, and changed its corporate name to Japan Engine Corporation (J-ENG) in April, 2017. J-ENG offers after-sales service for WinGD brand engines.
End of 2016 3. Maj Engines & Cranes and Uljanik Strojogradnja d.d have merged to a new company which is named Uljanik Strojogradnja Diesel d.d. In 2008 3. Maj has built the research engine RTX4 for WinGD’s testing laboratory in Winterthur. The license agreement was renewed with Uljanik Strojogradnja Diesel d.d in 2018. The annual production capacity of Uljanik Strojogradnja d.d is up to 20 two-stroke engines depending on the engine size. The company focuses on bore sizes between 350 and 600 mm.
