In February, COSCO Shipping took delivery of Yuan Rui Yang, the world’s first LNG-fueled very large crude carrier (VLCC). Built by DISC shipyard in Dalian, China, the 318,000 DWT vessel is powered by a WinGD 7X82DF dual-fuel engine.
China Classification Society’s VLCC project manager, Zhang Qiang wrote: “The delivery was a watershed moment for the tanker industry and sets a new bar for fuel efficiency, carbon emissions, and operational efficiency.”
